How Hearing Works

A while back, I was asked to prepare an exhibit on hearing for the Sullivan Museum on Campus.  Below is the link to the shorter version of what I provided.  If you've ever wondered how things that go "bump" in the night can be heard by us, this should help you understand the marvelous mechanism of hearing (up to the point of the generation of nerve impulses in the brain).  How nerve impulses are transduced into what we call "noise" is currently beyond the ken of science.
