What it takes to win the battle

This from Chris: "The battle is won through the blood of the Lamb, the word of your testimony, the armor of God, the sword of the Spirit, and prayer."¹  19 11 06

We discussed how the sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) is included twice in this list.  We concluded that in the armor it is the only offensive weapon.  As such, it deserves to be singled out from that list.  Yet, upon deeper thought, much in this list is intended to be defensive and offensive, yet it still seems appropriate to include the sword in this list.

This day and age

In this day and age, people are not willing to look into the Word for guidance, rather they are willing to look the other way. (posted on my FB page today)

Isn't it interesting that righteousness is also known as "the way?" Below, see some of the many places this connection is established in the Word (the Bible) And isn't it interesting that the early church referred to the Gospel as "The Way?"  See some of the several places this is done in the New Testament in red below.

Genesis 3:24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

Genesis 18:19 For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.”

Exodus 18:20 Teach them his decrees and instructions, and show them the way they are to live and how they are to behave.
